ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

The first$-$floor plan of a portion of a public library building is shown in Figure below. The $250$ mm thick reinforced concrete floor is finished with $25$ mm screed and $8$ mm fibre vinyl floor covering. There are $230$ mm thick $2\mathrm{.}4m$ high masonry walls along Beams A and Beams C only. Assuming the floor is simply supported on beams and columns, determine the following:

a$)$ The loadings at ultimate limit state $($ULS$)$ on all beams and columns.

b$)$ Ultimate bending moment and shear forces and draw final shear force and bending moment diagrams for all beams.

c$)$ Appropriate sizes of all beams $($PFIS$)$ and columns $($H$-$sections$).$

NOTE:

Grade of steel is S$355$JR$.$

Floor is $2\%$ reinforced.

Take unit weight of masonry as $22k\frac{N}{m^3}$

Assume nominal self$-$weights for beams and columns to be $1k\frac{N}{m}$ and $2\mathrm{.}5$ kN respectively.
