Case Study #1:
Read the following excerpt from this essay on why the death penalty is considered capital punishment, and be sure to address each of the subsequent questions:
The death penalty goes against the most crucial human right, "the right to life". In the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 7 protects Canadian individual's right to life, liberty and security. It states that everyone should have the right to live and have control over your own body. Every individual, whether they have committed a crime or not, should not be stripped of their right to life. The Charter of the United States also protects the same values of life and liberty until they are sentenced to death. Evidently, this results in their human right, "the right to life" being taken away. "The goal of the death penalty is to stop individuals from committing crimes like murder".
Case Study #2:
Henry and Lucy were working on a biology lab together which required them to each submit their own report with their findings. Since Henry and Lucy worked on the lab together, and received the same results, they wrote their lab report together and individually submitted the exact same assignment word for word. When the teacher was marking the report, he gave Henry and Lucy a failing grade, and made a comment on each of their papers that they had written the same report word for word. Henry and Lucy told their teacher that they did the work together, so they thought there would be no issue submitting the same report, as there is evidence of their thinking and results throughout the experiment.
Case Study #3:
Iris wrote a paper two years ago for her Grade 11 Psychology class about psychoanalytic theory. She is now taking grade 12 University English and one of the options for the essays is to use psychoanalytic theory. Iris is facing a deadline and decides to use portions of her work in this new essay. She copies and pastes from her previous essay into the new one. After she submits it to Turnitin.com, she notices her Turnitin.com report indicates a high percentage of matching but thinks it's just an error. When her teacher returns Iris's work, she claims that Iris did not submit her own work, and that many passages of the essay were flagged at a high percentage as being from someone else's work. .

Kris includes a quotation and adds a citation for one of his points, but does not cite all of his quotations or research. He also does not include a Works Cited at the end of his assignment.
