Responses should be complete, well thought out, and presented in a logical manner. 2. A minimum of one paragraph is required for this initial posting. 3. Topic of Conversation: Crewed Mission: Moon or Mars? For this Discussion Board, you are being asked to weigh in on the question of whether humankind's next target for a crewed space mission should be the Moon or Mars. With the Artemis program, NASA has already embarked on the mission to send astronauts back to the Moon with the un-crewed Artemis | launched in November of 2022, Upcoming stages of the Artemis mission are: Artemis Il - first crewed test flight, including going around the Moon; Artemis Il - first crewed Moon landing; Artemis IV - second crewed Moon landing, including docking with Lunar Gateway; Artemis V - third crewed Moon landing, including Lunar Terrain Vehicle. Launches of some upcoming stages of the mission have recently been pushed further out (Artemis Il moved from November 2024 to no earlier than September 2025; Artemis Il moved from 2025 to no earlier than September 2026. Artemis |V is currently on schedule for 2028, Artemis V in 2029). For many years, some thought that we should forego the return to the Moon and simply focus on putting people on Mars. Research the question by searching for information about what each option would require. Find at least 3 sources to inform your position. Consider things like: engineering needs, fuel/rocket needs, life on a spacecraft, living life on the Moon or Mars, psychological aspects, and any other things you may find pertinent and include discussion of at least 3 of these issues in your post. You may also include your personal opinion outside of the engineering aspects of such missions. In your initial post, also include links and/or citations to your sources (3 minimum). After submitting your initial post, you must respond to at least 2 other student posts. These responses must be substantive - comment on and refer to information in the initial post you are responding to. You may question each other on information in the posts and you do not have to agree with the posts you respond to. HOWEVER, all posts will be respectful of the students and the ideas they present - you can be polite and not agree!
