The container of water in Figure 2 has a mass of 20 kg . Block B has a density of 7840
kgm3 and a mass of 30 kg . Determine the total compression or elongation of each spring
(Springs C and D) when the block is completely submerged in water.
Note: The spring force can be calculated using the following formula: Fressort =k|8| where k
is the spring constant in Nm and & is the spring travel in m . Fressort is an algebraic value, taken positive in
the case of compression and negative in the case of tension.
