Energy transformation technologies have revolutionized the world in which we live. In this evaluated learning task, you will choose a specific energy transformation technology, analyze the social and/or environmental impact, propose a practical course of action to make the technology more sustainable.

• Choose an energy transformation technology. Examples: air conditioner, coal-fired power plant, electric light, gasoline engine, heat pump, hydroelectric power plant, jet engine, nuclear power plant, steam engine, etc.
• Conduct research into the technology.
• Describe, with the aid of diagrams,the energy transformations that occur through the use of the technology.
• Describe the source of energy used by the technology and how that energy is transported to the consumer.
• Describe at least one impact the technology has had on society.
• Describe at least one impact the technology has hadon the environment.
• Describe at least one impact the technology could haveon the environment.
• Propose a change that could be made to the technology to make it more sustainable, i.e., to reduce its environmental impact(s)
