Persuasion is necessary in many areas of life. We use it in relationships and in the workplace. Persuading effectively can result in a work procedure changing or convincing a friend to kick a bad habit. For this week's assignment, locate an article about persuasion, and analyze how the information in the article can be used in professional and/or academic settings.

The term, persuasion, is used to influence any persons belief, behavior, motivation, and attitude. Several articles can be found on persuasion on the internet. One of them has attracted me the most, which describe the development of qualities to become more persuasive. The article is called The Importance of Persuasion in Negotiation.

To persuade others, a person must develop three qualities that will sharply increase the rate of success. These are positivity, politeness, and persistence.

It is essential to have a positive attitude and behavior in negotiation. Negative and pessimistic minded people cannot be successful in persuading. A positive attitude makes a person hopeful for the result. It also enhances the understanding between two people. Affirmative action can lead to overcoming all the barriers and help a person to become successful in convincing others.

Politeness is the second quality that a person must hold to persuade others. A person must use a polite and civil tone during the conversation. He or she must be careful about languages. Politeness indicates to control the anger. A polite individual can influence others easily.

Persistence indicates the mentality of never giving up. It also makes a person patient and hopeful. Those who are in a hurry in negotiation may lose their standpoint. It is essential to take time and think about the discussion as a whole before making any decision.
