Pace Hall is the location of the conversational analysis that is being conducted. The student who offered to participate in this interview is a fellow first-year student at Troy. The participant for this interview is a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) student who plans to study in America for five years. They'll be taking ESL ( English as a Second Language) classes during this time. The participant was interested in learning more about the English language and believed that this was a chance to engage with a student who has English as their first language to get more insight into the understanding of the language. For security reasons, we'll call that individual speaker one and the other speaker two. To begin this conversation, the participant in the conversation was starting to learn the English language, and for that, many of the words the guest would say would sound monotone, as if the pitch in which they pronounce certain words would be flat. They acknowledged this to begin the conversation; however, they were focused on the words and even repeated the words after the other speaker to ensure they said the word correctly. The guest spoke on specific topics, such as sports, since they had played soccer a year before this conversation. The interview focus on life here at Troy so far, learning the english language and travel specifically Alabama. During the conversation there some linguistic methods that were used for instance turn-taking for which speaker one would say something the speaker two.
