QUESTION 2 Maun is a village about 970 km from Gaborone with a population of about 20,000 people. The village hospital is recording a high number of sanitation and nutritional related diseases such as diarrhoea, dysentery and kwashiorkor especially affecting children. The Department of Health of North-West District Council investigated the problem and discovered the following: i. The residents lacked safe drinking water because there were few boreholes serving a large population. The few existing boreholes were not in good condition. ii. The residents lacked knowledge for proper hygienic living conditions. iii. They also lacked proper nutrition information in order to avoid nutrition related diseases. The North-West District decided to implement a project aimed at improving the health of the community by reducing the prevalence of nutritional, hygiene and sanitation related diseases. When completed, the project will provide safe drinking water through the rehabilitation of existing water sources and construction of new boreholes. The current piping system will also be rehabilitated and extended to include the provision of stand pipes within homesteads. Secondly, the project will provide knowledge and information through training and reading materials to the community on nutrition, hygiene and sanitation. Some of the village members will be selected to undergo training in the areas of hygiene, sanitation and nutrition in form of training of trainers. The trainers will then schedule workshops for the village residents. Develop the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for the project up to level 2. (20 Marks)
