One of the biggest challenges employers face when managing employee benefit programs is providing value for employees while remaining cost-effective for the company. Benefit programs must be designed, administered, communicated, and measured. To maximize the impact benefits have on employee satisfaction and retention, careful consideration must be given to designing benefit programs. When creating benefits programs, the organization must have the organizational philosophy and strategy in mind. Organizations must do what's best for themselves and their employees.

Managing employee benefit programs is a big challenge because depending on the program, there can be positive or negative outcomes for the organization. If a good benefit program is set in place for employees then employees would feel more motivated to work and perform better. This could ultimately lead to more productivity within the company and less employee turnover. If a bad benefit program is set in place for employees then employees would feel less motivated to perform well at work because they feel they aren't being valued. This would eventually lead to productivity dropping within the organization and an increase in employee turnover. Although the real challenge lies in finding a middle ground that benefits both the employees and the employer. The company might have a great benefit program but the company can not particularly afford it putting the company at a disadvantage. Employers must develop a strategy to implement a program that would benefit the employees and the organization as a whole.

If I were a human resource manager, I would offer benefits that meet the needs of the newer generation of employees. I would offer flexible working arrangements due to the trend of working from home these days and the desire for a good work-life balance. Also, I would provide education assistance because there are a lot of employees these days who are burdened by student debt. I would offer healthcare benefits as well because everyone likes to know that they will be looked after if something happens to them. I feel like these benefits would be very attractive to todays generation.
