I understand why the project manager is being replaced because the qualifications of the resources working on the team should have included individuals who have a competency in the area of compensation and benefits. Before I make a decision on the resources, I will need to gather some information. I will look over the project charter and review the Gantt chart for the project and the work breakdown structure. The information in these documents will give me a better understanding of the project, at what stage the project is in and what can be done to bring the project to a close without incurring massive amounts of costs. I would not immediately replace all of the resources, because that would mean starting the project over from the beginning. Nor would I attempt to train the members of the team who do not understand compensation and benefits. I would determine who stays and who goes by interviews and assessments. I would start this process immediately. Once I determine which resources would be vital to the project, I would then replace only the ones who were holding back the process of completing the project.
