Span a gap of 550mm.

pipes cannot be used to support the bridge.
Be simply supported by resting on two cylinders (approximately 30mm in diameter). In other words, the
bridge must rest on the top of the supports as shown in the figure below (no bracing against the supports at

Support a point load applied at the center of the bridge using a Hounsfield Universal Testing machine. A flat
metal spreader plate will be placed on top of each of the cylindrical supports and the load point to spread the
load and prevent indentation.
The bridge must not be wider than 90mm.
To simulate the ability for cars to move through it, a 5050400mm block must fit through the bridge (i.e.
no cross bracing)
