I was trying to find a simple answer for the following post; it is exciting to read. I recently had to buy a new laptop due to anger, and since I am staring at the box now in my office, I wanted to share my thoughts on its sustainability. I was pleasantly surprised with the lack of plastic and Styrofoam, with 99% of the packaging made of cardboard. The only plastic was the wrap around the box, which was necessary for shipping. Overall, I think the packaging was great, and I would change nothing about it.

However, there are a couple of things that I find wasteful and harmful about my laptop that I would change. Firstly, being unable to replace batteries can be a pain, especially when my laptop is a couple of years old and does not hold a charge. I have to find a seat with an outlet to charge my computer, which is not always convenient. This results in people buying new laptops even though the old ones work fine, which creates electronic waste and increases demand for new laptops.

Quality is the primary motivator for me. When it comes to production, design, and packaging, those are not motivating reasons for me to buy or not buy a product. However, there are some things that manufacturers could do to improve their laptops and encourage me to buy them. For example, they could design laptops to be more durable and long-lasting and provide users with more repair and upgrade options. Another way to motivate me would be to improve the energy efficiency of laptops by using more efficient components and optimizing software to reduce energy consumption.
