I would appreciate any help answering this question. For this lab, the ten points possible will be distributed as follows:

  1. the completed data tables (2 points).
  2. a sheet with all calculations that you are asked to complete for this lab (3)
  3. graphical method graphs (3 points).
  4. completed question (2 points). PHY 202/PHY 241 Vector addition Name: ________________________________ Purpose: Familiarize the student with the concept of vector representation of physics quantities and how vectors can be added to yield an overall solution. Procedure 1. Go to PHET Vector Addition simulation (https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/vector-addition) where you should find the "Vector Addition" simulation. You should be able to click on the arrow in the middle of the display to run it, as the simulation runs on HTML 5. Once opened, choose "Lab" tab. 2. For each of the scenarios below, you will a) add the vectors mentioned using a graphical technique (This will require doing scale drawing on graph paper with ruler and protractor as in our text - to get an idea how this might look using graph paper, as you must for this method, you might click on the "Show Grid" box), b) add the vectors mentioned using the component method (sine and cosine components, resultant magnitude and angle), and c) using the simulator to reproduce the vectors involved and to solve for their resultant. For each result, fill out the table below with the resultant in appropriate units and the angle of the resultant in degrees. a. To get to the sandwich shop, you left home and drove 8 miles north and then 14 miles east. If a bird flew from your house to the sandwich shop in a straight line, how far and in what direction (angle) does the bird fly? b. Suppose you and a friend are test driving a new car. You drive out of the car dealership and go 12 miles east, and then 9 miles north. Then, your friend drives 6 miles west, and 3 miles south, where you run out of gas. If you had the dealer's drone in the car, how far and in what direction (what angle) does it fly to get back to the dealership with your SOS so that a tow truck can be sent? c. A paper airplane is given a push so that it could fly 1.2 m/s 41.6 North of East, but there is wind that also pushes it 3.1 m/s 14.9 North of East. How fast could it go and in what direction would it travel? Scenarios Graphical resultant/angle Component resultant/angle Simulation resultant/angle A B C

Analysis 1. Show all graphical method work on separate pieces of graph paper. ALL GRAPHS MUST BE SCALED SO THAT THEY FILL A PIECE OF GRAPH PAPER. Attach these on separate pages, ONE GRAPH PER PAGE, after "Questions". If you do not have a scanner, then photographs with a digital camera are okay. In this case, make sure to reduce the resolution of your camera to keep the individual images in the 100's kByte range and thus keep the size of this file manageable for Blackboard. 2. All calculations are to be done on a separate calculations page as attachments. Same rules apply as for graphs above. 3. As a reminder: % ???????????????????? = |???????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????| ???????????????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???? 100% 4. Calculate the percent error between the magnitudes of each resultant (not the angles) gotten graphically to its corresponding magnitude gotten using the simulator, using the simulator as the "accepted" result. 5. Calculate the percent error between the magnitudes of each resultant (not the angles) gotten using the component method to its corresponding magnitude gotten using the simulator, using the simulator as the "accepted" result. Questions 1. From your results from the graphical and component analysis, did either method give a better result compared to that of the simulator? Give reasons for any significant difference between the two methods
