Zoe did not do as well on her biology exam as she had hoped to. She was angry at herself for getting behind in her readings and trying to study multiple chapters in one week. So when Zoe came to work today, she was already in a bad mood. She told herself to push her concerns about her grade to the back of her mind. Three employees had called in sick and as shift manager, she was having to fill in the gaps where she could, from helping out at the fry station to keeping the restrooms clean. There was simply too much to do, and she didn't have time to deal with her emotions about her grade. All the while, Zoe's muscles became tense and her heartbeat grew rapid. Lauren Lee When a customer calmly approached Zoe to ask for more ketchup, Zoe quickly grabbed two packets and practically threw them across the counter. The customer's facial expression quickly shifted from normal to surprised. "You don't have to be mean about it," they said. Zoe didn't seem to consider this and was already on her way to deal with the overflowing trash when another employee stopped her and said, "Zoe. Let me take out the trash.
