TO: Department Managers
FROM: Richard Gannon, Human Resources
SUBJECT: Coming to a Hallway Near You!
I am writing this e-mail to call attention to the fact that things were not going well around here this past year. Profits went down the tube, and we received our share of other bad news. So, to help raise up employee morale, our president, Mr. Padilla, dreamed up this award program he calls "Everybody Has a Customer" (EHAC). The program's purpose is to encourage you to look for fellow employees who are doing an outstanding effort and achieving excellent results on the job.
Mr. Padilla came up with this idea and gave the program a title, but he asked me to figure out the details. Because my department's budget was drastically cut last year, I will have to do this on a very small budget. I'll need extra help from you to promote the idea. It's going to be tough to make this fly without great gifts as awards, anyway, here's what I came up with.
First, you should find someone who meets the qualifications of the award's name and description.
Second. Then I want you to take two pictures of the employee who you picked to receive the award. You can use your phone to take pictures.
Third. A certificate should be made out and a copy made.
Fourth. You then stick the pictures to the certificates with double-sided tape.
Fifth. One copy should be given to the person in the picture but not until the award ceremony at the EHAC monthly party. You will do that at the awards party.
6. Both copies go to Human Resourcesone for the awardee and one for later posting in the central hallway on the board of honor.
Those are six easy steps to improving the morale around here. To make this work, I need the support of all you managers.
I would like you to call a meeting to discuss the rules and give everyone the informative flyer and a kit I designed to announce this program. The kit will have the tape, the certificates, and the flyer. The flyer will answer any questions you have in regard to the program that I didn't mention in this e-mail.
I know that none of us want another depressing year like last year. Therefore, get out there and encourage participation in the "Everybody Has a Customer" (EHAC) award program. Hey, work hard and you might get a certificate yourself! We're also planning monthly EHAC parties where the awards will be made.
