I'm taking a neuropsychology course and I've been asked to find an experimental study and discuss it
Fantastic news! We've Found the answer you've been seeking!
Question:
The study I've found is called Preserved learning and retention of pattern-analyzing skill in amnesia: Dissociation of Knowing how and Knowing that, by Cohen and Squire.
The participants: 1 group were patients with amnesia and 1 group was a control group of people without amnesia.
They were all asked to do mirror-reading tasks on consecutive days to see if the amnesic patients could retain information or learn the encoding rules for acquiring skills even if they don't remember the various words from the tasks.
Could someone give me advice on whether this is a somatic or behavioral approach and what the independent and dependent variables are?
