In class, we discussed how there are many different factors that contribute to the effectiveness of a team. Specifically, we looked at the Model of Team Effectiveness, which organizes these factors into three categories: context, composition, and process. A diagram of this model is attached on the back of this page and our textbook further describes each factor in detail.
Discuss in pairs the WORST least effective team experience that each of you have ever had. This can be within the context of a sports team, a workplace team, a class group project, etc. Pick one group member's experience to answer the next two questions.
Describe what makes this team experience stand out as being so negative.
For example, how did you feel during this experience? What challenges did you face? What was the outcome of the team's work? etc.
Then, using the Model of Team Effectiveness, analyze which factors contributed to this experience of an ineffective team eg climate of trust, personality, team cohesion, etc. That is describe why this team was likely ineffective according to the factors outlined in the model. Be specific and thorough in order to demonstrate your understanding of these factors.
