In January 2019, the FDA announced its plans to enhance the Sentinel Initiative through the use of emerging technologies and innovations in data science. Specifically, there are 5 strategic goals that have been laid out as part of this enhancement process, and notably for our Week 5 discussion topic, the augmentation of its safety analysis capabilities , and the use of the system to accelerate access to and broaden the use of real world data for real world evidence are two of those strategies.
