In Module 1, we have discussed the First Amendment rights extended to all of us in the United States. These First Amendment rights include the freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom to peaceably assemble, freedom of the press, and more. For the purposes of this assignment, we will explore recent events in our society concerning protests. We have seen protests in many venues for many purposes. In this assignment, we will examine the concept of the January 6th protest and detail whether this protest should be protected. Consider protests that have taken place in the past several years. When should protests be protected by the First Amendment? What events should preclude protests from being protected by the First Amendment? Analyze the January 6th protest at the Capitol Building in terms of the content we have covered. Make sure to use additional resources.
