The plaintiff must show that he or she: 1. was subjected to harassment based on a protected class characteristic; 2. the harassment resulted in a tangible employment action or was sufficiently severe or pervasive to alter working conditions and created a hostile environment; 3. the harassment was unwelcome; and 4. there is a basis for attributing liability to the employer.
