In our video lecture $/$ class outline material, when discussing international law, professor Sanford stated that he liked the law in England that says if you sue someone and lose, you are required to pay the legal fees of the person you sued. As a result, there are less lawsuits since people only sue if they are confident they can win. This is not the case in American since many people sue when they not have a good case because they are hoping for a settlement. Many defendants, when sued, find it cheaper to settle the case than go to court.
