Question:
In previous years, I have anonymously collected data from students at the beginning term so we could analyze it during the remainder of term. One question I asked was what their expected grade in PSYC 300B was going to be (from 0% to 100%), and another was their anxiety level of taking stats on a seven point scale from "lots of anxiety, get me out of here" to "no anxiety, bring it on". For analysis purpose "lots of anxiety" was given the numeral 7 and "no anxiety" was given the numeral 1, (7 indicating lots of anxiety had the highest measure). Please note, in no way was the anxiety scale a well-standardized scale!. There were a total of n = 14 responses and rs = -.536. Was this correlation statistically significant? Assume a Population correlation of p = 0 and p(a) = .05 2-tailed
A. What is the scale of measurement for expected grade? What is the scale of measurement for Anxiety?
B. What type of correlation is being reported?
