In response to this different post , discuss some points that may help to shift negative views of social welfare programs. Try to incorporate religious, ethical, or spiritual values to justify those points.

  1. Religious values play a significant role on shaping social welfare. Religious values come into play because many people identify as a member of a Protestant church. In their congregations they believe to help the less fortunate when they need help. I believe that religion plays a big part on programs like SNAP and TANF because it goes back to helping the less fortunate that need help. I grew up in a Catholic home so I was always taught to help someone that is in need of help and to always feed anyone that is hungry. So being raised with these values I support programs like SNAP and TANF because it helps feed families that can't afford it and helps families that are struggling financially. (KO)
  2. to my personal encounters, I say that religious values do play a part in programs such as SNAP and TANF. When I first applied for SNAP benefits years ago the lady asked if I was a Christian and if I believed in God, she also had me as well as two other ladies that were there with me do a class on the benefits of religion and beliefs. Just like some churches do food giveaways and food pantries to help those in need that do not receive these benefits. I've already had beliefs about these types of programs so the religious beliefs did not help with already forming some type of belief about the programs.(BM).
