For example, at the Exploring stage when I tried to get to know a client I start working with, I asked questions regarding his interest, his barriers to school work, and his personalities. As we talked, I sought clarification when he stated that he is going to fail his Math test. He later further explained he thought he would never get through the text. I reflected his frustration and his lack of confidence on Math. In our conversation, I tried to break down his problem that he needed additional help to help him understand the subject. He may also need to talk to his Math teacher on his performance. I partialized his problem so that he could know what steps he could take to improve his grade. I went beyond and let him see that he can still work on improving his grade on Math.
