You are working at the Southtown Mall and are not working with a partner. You are posted at the East doors. At 10:20am, a patron tells you she saw smoke coming out of one of the recycling bins near the end of the parking lot. You grab an extinguisher from the wall and make your way outside to investigate. When you arrive, you see smoke and notice a partially burned cigarette lying on cardboard in the bottom of the bin. You are able to douse the flames with the extinguisher and confirm the fire has been properly put out. You write up a Mall Incident Report for the shopping mall administrator. At 10:56am, you notice a child wandering alone and apparently crying. You approach the child and determine he does not now where his mother is. You escort the child to the mall administration office but on your way, you encounter a frantic woman who immediately recognizes the child and runs toward you. The child calls "mommy!" and pulls toward the woman. Before letting go, you ask the child if the woman is his mother. The child says "yes". The mother explains she let go of the child to pick up something from a store shelf, and when she did, the child ran off. The mother thanks you and leaves with the child
