in the example below, engage in making connections between various supply chain design, logistics, and integration strategies and previous course concepts.

I would argue that you have to build a strong relationships with customers and suppliers, which in today's environment is tantamount to being profitable and sustainable. If we look at the many TQM philosophies, customers relations is a part of every TQM philosophy as well as removing waste from the system, which goes to the supply chain, and brings us to logistic. The movement of materials and information through the entire supply chain from the raw material to the final end use. As everyone through the supply chain is looking for the best price (lowest) an integrate supply does reduce waste which translates into the best price for everyone in the supply chain. The waste in this case is excess inventory which is typically compounded by the bull whip effect which based heavily on forecasting future demand. An integrated supply chain reduces and/or eliminates waste, i.e. excess inventory as demand is communicated throughout the supply chain and thus everyone can forecast and plan better to reduce inventory but still meet demand.
