In the final assignment students are now tasked with going a level deeper to explore a methodology and methods that support a specific research interest As an educator, (My research interests are in the field of educational equity and access. I am particularly interested in researching barriers to access to education faced by low-income and minority students).. Students are asked to briefly introduce their specific research interest to provide context for the following:

articulate their philosophical perspective (ontology) (I refer to ontology as the remainder of the water cycle)

situate themselves within a research approach and identify a methodology that would support an inquiry into their research interest (epistemology) ( I refer to epistemo;ogy as the Sun in the water cycle. (Plato, who had an interest in epistemology, used the image of the sun to help define the true meaning of "Good". The Good sheds light on knowledge so that our minds can see true reality)

conduct a literature review on a particular research methodology

explore possible methods that would align with their methodology and support their inquiry

discuss the strengths and limitations of their approach

include a discussion of researcher's role and research/er integrity

NOTE: Students provide a brief overview of their general research curiosity only to provide context for their developing framework.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK IS THE FOCUS OF THE ASSIGNMENT.
