In this assignment, you will be recruiting a baker for a bakery shop

Part 1 Get Ready!

PLANNING: Who are you looking for? Refer back to your previous job description assignment!

Copy the Job Summary piece from your last assignment. If you didnt do the previous job description Assignment, create a Job Summary for this position.

Identify the THREE (3) key skills you will be looking for as you select staff for this job. These may include qualifications, physical requirements, or soft skills such as communication, teamwork, or customer service skills.

Explain briefly why you think that these are the three key skills for this job.

SCOPE: What is the scope of your search?

How many employees do you want to hire?

Will they be full-time or part-time, permanent or contract?

What is the scope of your search (local, provincial, national, global)?

VALUE PROPOSITION: What do you have to offer to potential employees? Whats your company brand?

Identify your employer value proposition. Why would someone want to work for your company? Support your answer with specific information about your business.

Remember you want to be an employer of choicewhat will attract potential top talent to your organization? This needs to be included! Hint: think back to your assignment for Chapter 2 and your company mission statement and values!

Part 2 Get Set!

Clearly define 3 ways you want to recruit for your business and explain why these are suitable (e.g. I need a dozen entry-level employees, a job fair which is an external method of recruitment will get me a fairly large number of local people with these skills).

You may consider different types of Internet site (e.g. a generic job site such as Indeed, social media, your own website, association job boards) as different methods of recruiting.

Be specific about whether you are using internal vs external recruitment strategies with each of your choices to demonstrate your understanding of these and explain why you have chosen each of the methods of recruitment.

Part 3 Go!

Create your recruitment ad. This can be in whatever format seems appropriate to your recruitment methods. For example, you could create a poster to put up in your business, a video clip (Powtoon, Animoto, Jing) to put on your company website, a Facebook page, or an ad for a job website such as indeed.com or Workopolis. If you are creating a video or other online ad, please make sure that the link you send me works.

Whatever format you choose, be sure to include the basic information an applicant needs your company value proposition, scope of the job full-time or part-time, requirements of the position, how to apply, deadline for application, where the job is located, etc.
