v3055 This variable asks participants to respond to the question On average, how many hours per week do you usually work in your (main) job?

v3076, v3081 These two variables ask participants to rate how much they agree with statements about their job. The exact wording is:

How much do you agree or disagree that the following statements describe your (main) job? -v3076 The pay is good -v3081 The work is interesting

1. Interpret these variables. What are they telling us? I.e., what is the main message that is contained in each of these variables. [Hint: something like 98 people agreed that they are paid well is a finding but it is NOT a main message.]

2. Its reasonable to think that people who are paid well and find the work interesting consider themselves to have good jobs (and, conversely, people who are not paid well and who do not find the work interesting probably do not think they have good jobs). Create a good jobs scale that combines the cleaned versions of v3076 and v3081. Give it an appropriate variable label.
