In this assignment, you will view an interview with a person in the workforce that identifies themselves with a particular group and explore the work challenges they face as being part of that group. You will also come up with strategies to support and help that person if you were their manager.
HOW TO PROCEED:
Find an online interview with a person that identifies themselves with a particular minority group in the workforce. Some examples of groups are, but not limited to: EAL, visible minorities, ethnic minorities, religious minorities, Indigenous, LGBTQ, age, gender, people living with visible or non-visible disabilities, and other minority groups.
The interview should be a minimum of 5-7 minutes and a maximum of 20 minutes.
The interview should include information about the a. situational, b. dispositional, and c. institutional challenges faced by this worker. NOTE: When viewing the interview, ask yourself whether there is enough information that would suggest managerial strategies to support the workers success in the workforce.
An audio interview with the same qualities would work as well.
Watch the interview and note any challenges the employee encounters in the workplace.
