In this lab we will practice mining bitcoins with the use of ASIC circuit devices. This will give us an idea of what it takes to mine for bitcoins.

Requirements for this Assignment: Submit your report as a Word document or PDF (preferred).
Darsh Devraj will present this Lab report (watch the VR of his presentation)
Requirements for the report:
1. A very comprehensive objective (from your point of view, what is the purpose of this lab)
2. Images and screenshots of the following. You can get the images for your report inthe link below:
Here are the images that you will need for the lab report, Thanks to Satya Vittala
a. Slushpool (before and after, provided as images). You will need to show the value of your Slushpool when you started the mining process and when you ended it, so that you can effectively calculade the cost.
b. An image of the device (In this case it's the Ant Miner S9K connected to a laptop)
c. An image of the running batch file (Slushpool, worker screen from the ppt)
3. Cost calculation - Use the calculation in the Sample Guide Document attached: (You will only need to supply your area's energy rate cents per kW-h)
Here are the given values for your report: You will only supply your energy rate in kW-hr in your area. For example in Jersey City as of 6/27/2024 the rate is:
For Jersey City the avg electricity cost is 18 cents per kWh (0.018 cents per W-h). Note you will need to get your area's electricity cost in cent/kW-h (you can use Google to search for this value). The mining period was for 48 hrs (6/25/2024 at 4:28PM EST to 6/27/2024 at 4:28PM EST). The S9K produced 13.10 TH/s which is equivalent to 1310 Watts. This parameter is fixed for this ASIC device.
To calculate Wh spent from mining 48 hours and 1310W (13.10TH/s power consumption of the Antminer S9K): 48 h *1310W =62880 W-h
(.018 cents /W-hr )*62880 W-h =1131.84 cents (This is cents then convert it to $) $11.3184=$11.32
At the end of the 48 hrs you were awarded 0.00000207(0.00095815-0.00093745) BTC which is converted to 0.13 US$ (as of 6/27/2024: 0.00000207*$61686.48= $0.1275U$D = $0.13USD)
