In this project we will create a program that will allow us to do analysis on a large set of numbers. Over the course of the multiple parts we will add different parts to the program that will perform analysis on the data.

In part A we will do the following things.

Read the list of numbers from a file

Store the numbers in a simple list

Find the maximum and minimum values in the list

Print out the minimum and maximum values as well as the list.

As a preview over the next few parts of this project will add the following analysis functions. Average Median Standard Deviation Variance Mode Graph the distribution

Outputs of the program: Minimum Maximum The list of numbers To help you get started this is how you open and read the numbers from a file and append it to a list called dataset. Just as a reminder you need to initialize dataset to an empty list before you can append to it.

f = open(filename, r) # This opens the file for reading only

for line in f: # This loops over every line in the file one at a time putting the

# line from the file in the variable line

num = int(float(line)) # This converts line from a string to an integer. If we wanted it to

# be a floating point number we would exclude the int function.

dataset.append(num) # This appends the number to our list.

Find the minimum and maximum values in your list. Print out your entire list. Print out the minimum and maximum values.

Write the code in Jython and test your program. Remember to include comments in the code!
