In your write-up, be sure to describe:

• the skill you chose to practice
• the setting in which you practiced the skill (alternatively, you could provide a recording of yourself practicing the skill)
• 3 or more components of the skill or specific techniques you practiced - with page numbers for where that component is discussed in our textbook
• an explanation of how exactly you practiced those components/techniques. For example, if you have chosen to practice communication in talking with your learning team, you might say: "One aspect of communication I practiced is choosing the right media . Specifically, I chose to ask my group's thoughts during our in person meeting rather than by text, because I wanted to see the group's nonverbal reactions in addition to hearing what they had to say."
• one lesson you will take away from the experience - something you can use to further develop your practice of the skill you've chosen

please find a setting in which to practice one of our course skills, then write 2-3 paragraphs about your practice. Before you practice the skill, you should choose 3 specific aspects of the skill that you want to practice (e.g., specific techniques ) . You'll then write about how exactly you applied each of those aspects of the skill in your practice setting.

For example, maybe you're going to have a discussion with a friend and you want to practice listening effectively. To do so, maybe you'd choose to focus on a.) showing sincere interest, b.) paraphrasing, and c.) trying to make sense of both verbal and nonverbal messages . You'd then focus on implementing each of those points in the conversation with your friend, then tell me how you practiced each of those techniques within the conversation (see further below for a full explanation of what I expect to see in your write-up).
