A malware incident

The key issue: crossover between work and home devices has led to an employee infecting the company systems with malware.

You work for Gadgets today, a top ranked IT firm, as the executive analyst. You are heading your team in a confidential project recent days. A member of the marketing team borrowed a company USB drive last Monday so he could take their presentation home and continue working on it. He plugged the USB into his home laptop, and while connected, it was infected with malware. Once back at the office, he re-inserted this into his work computer, infecting the systems with the same malware on the day of project presentation.

Prepare an Incident Report in MEMO format to the Head of Operations, Nazmul Rahman, dated today 6.09.2021. Outline the reasons behind the incident, assess whether the employee could work out whats happened and also whether your team are aware of security issues such as malware. Highlight the importance of keeping work and home devices separate as much as possible as a precaution.
