Step #$1$: The Topic

Find an interesting or intriguing topic from the textbook, something that is thoughtprovoking to you and arouses your curiosity.

Step #$2$: The Research Journal

Begin a journal. Write down the topic and why you are interested personally in the topic. Do

some initial research on the internet that fleshes out the topic and any conceptual models.

Continue to add the following to your journal:

To start your journal, you just need a place to record some key details about each search

that you perform. You could:

$$ Keep a Word document on your computer's desktop or in Office$365,$ and keep it

open to make an entry each time you sit down for a research session $($save your

work often!$).$ A simple journal template is attached below as an example $($feel free

to download it for your own use$).$

$$ Use a free online tool, like a journaling app or a blog.

$$ Keep a dedicated paper notebook on your desk, and jot down the crucial details of

your searches the old$-$fashioned way.

Make sure each entry in your journal is dated and includes:

$$ Where you searched. Which library database did you use? Did you try an internet

search engine like Google? Knowing where you searched will help you remember

where you found a book or article $($in case you need to track it back down later$).$

$$ What keywords did you use, and how well did they work? Effective keywords can

make all the difference...by tracking them, you can pinpoint the good ones $($and stop

wasting time with the rest$).$

$$ What sources did you find? Make sure you have at least a citation for each source

that you think you want to use in your paper. That will be one less thing to do when

it's time to write! Saving each source's full text as you go is a good idea, too.

$$ How do you plan to use each source? Make a note to remind yourself of any new

ideas that arose as you read it$,$ or sections you want to quote or paraphrase.

Submit your research journal as a component of your assignment by $11$:$59$pm on April

$4$th$,2024$ on eLearn.

Step #$3$: The research question$($s$)$

Write at least three questions you have about your topic $($call them RQ$1-$RQ$3)$ and use them

to create focus for your research. Create a list of search terms

Step #$4$: The Focused Investigation

Create an investigation plan. Begin with determining what research materials you need to

learn more. Hint: You must use a combination of digital and hard copy materials $($ie:

researched in the library and online$)$ as well as a combination of peer$-$reviewed journal

articles and other sources eg: newspapers or magazines. Be careful of the sources of your

information and ensure they$$re credible.

You will require at minimum ten $(10)$ sources of information. Your plan needs to detail how

and where you$$ll find this information and what key words you$$ll use in your key word

search. Use Google Scholar to input your research terms and

Follow a scientific process of observing, questioning and predicting. Capture your findings

and notes in your research journal.

Step #$5$: Sharing Understanding

Create a PowerPoint presentation $($min $20$ slides$)$ that explains and presents your findings

with evidence supporting them. Use APA formatting to include in$-$text citations and follow

up the PowerPoint with a list of references in full APA format. Use your research to

illuminate and clarify your topic with the goal being to bring new levels of information and

ideas to your classmates.

Be prepared to present your inquiry on Thursday April $4$th$,2024.$ Your PowerPoint is due

by $11$:$59$pm on April $4,2024$ on eLearn.

Step #$6$: Reflection

A central driving force for human beings is the desire to grapple with an intellectual

challenge and solve it for ourselves. This assignment allowed you to encounter an

interesting phenomena and grapple with it in order to make sense of it and arrive at a new

sense of understanding.

This is not only the way that scientists do things, but also the way business executives do

things. They$$re constantly learning new things.

Reflect on this process of inquiry and answer the following questions in a one$-$page

reflection.
