: Information Systems and Front End Application
Task 1: The Case Study Muscat Hospital (MH) is one of the oldest hospitals of Oman located in Muscat city. Every year a lot of patients visit the Muscat hospital. The Hospital is offering quality medical care to patients since its inception 15 years ago. The Muscat Hospital Offers a wide variety of services to the patients. The hospital has medical centers and clinical laboratories. To manage the patient's data the Hospital purchased a state of art health Information system a few years back. The System named the patient information system (PIS) is designed to manage all the health care data of the registered patients.Medical staff at the hospital input all the patient-related details using different forms available. Several processes have been automated with the use of the PIS one of which is booking an appointment. The registered patients can book an appointment with the doctor using a web interface at their convenience. Before the use of the PIS, several business processes were manual and manual entries led to several mistakes which caused inconvenience to the patients and the hospital staff. Storing the medical records of each patient was a tedious task. The hospital management is planning to add remote patient monitoring to the system. The system would allow sensors to send patient data to health care professionals in the hospital. Based on the data received the health care professionals in the hospital will be making decisions about the patients. There is a lot of data that is generated by the information system used by the hospital. This information from this system is helping the hospital manage health effectively and efficiently and also helping reduce the health cost. This is also contributing towards improved patient care.
