Information systems question, I need help please (minimum 125 words).
For your initial post, please take a position for or against any of the following statements. Again, use my ideas as a framework for discussion. There are many other relevant ethical technology discussions that I list here. Governments should restrict what can be said on Facebook, Twitter, or other social platforms and have the right to delete posts that might endanger national security or the public good. Facebook should also be able to restrict content that it deems unacceptable. Its that same idea that a company has the right to refuse service to anyone. (I mention Facebook in this question but feel free to add other social networking sites and their content as you deem appropriate.) Users may criticize social networking sites like Facebook for collecting too much information about people and using that data inappropriately. But Facebook and others do have a privacy policy, and users agree to it. And if users are concerned about their privacy, they should review that privacy policy, and make a decision of whether or not to use the service. The same logic can be extended to other business categories like banking. Governments and social networking sites collect many data nuggets each day that show an account of the day. We also choose to leave an audit trail by using credit cards where we or using. Referring to the idea of nonobvious relationship awareness (NORA), consider the social implications of being able to aggregate your credit card, telephone, and social networking data. Who should be able to gather and aggregate this data? Should governments and private companies be able to gather and aggregate this data at all?
