Deposit mobilization is an integral part of banking activity.Mobilization of savings through the intensive deposit collection has been regarded as the majortaskofbankinginEthiopia today. However, sources from National Bank of Ethiopia indicate that from deposits that should be mobilized by banks, only a few are mobilized (NBE annual Report 2012/13).This indicates that from the money that can be deposited in the bank, most ofitisnotyet mobilized. And though such a case, it appears that in most of the years commercial banks are in a serious threat of Illiquidity (Awash Bank Annual report 2012/13, 2013/14). Most importantly, all commercial banks have the needs to mobilize resources without any restrictions in Ethiopia. Deposit is one of the resources banks highly motivated to mobilize and the most liquid money that is found in the treasury of the bank and which is ready to be borrowed in need of the fund (Desta Alemu, 2015). A deposit of the bank may be affected by different factors. A deposit is most useful Liabilities of the bank and it is relevant to find out factors. Affecting the deposit of a bank and determine the relationship between them. However, most commercial banks were not successful in controlling and managing their deposit as they were not aware of the factors that can affect the deposit. To the researcher knowledge, no research of the same type has been done in the past at Awash International Bank. Hence, filling the knowledge gap, this study examines the deposit mobilization in private commercial banks, identifies factors affecting the deposit of private commercial bank and suggests the possible way out.

Therefore, the general objective of this study will examine the determinants of deposit mobilization in awash bank with a specific objectives of identifying the factors that affect deposit mobilization in banking industry, assessing thechallengesandproblemsAwash Bankis facing withrespecttospecial deposit accounts and determining the effect of awareness of the society, segmentation of product type (saving account), and suitability of accounts for every individual on deposit mobilization of Awash Bank.

The researcher will use a lottery method. Out of 14 branches total client number percent of the client covers the four branches. The total client was selected as a sample from the branches on the assumption that they might represent Awash bank, Bahir Dar district. Regress deposit mobilization on the explanatory variables
