2) Preliminary Research Identify the purpose and function of the space, and the people who use it.
3) Observation Spend at least 15 minutes in the space carefully observing and documenting various aspects. Take note of the following:
a. Physical Environment - Analyze the layout, lighting, colors, furniture, and overall ambiance of the space. Consider the overall aesthetics and the impact on user experience.
b. User Experience: Observe the people using the space. Note their behavior, interactions, and any challenges they encounter. Pay attention to their comfort, convenience, and satisfaction levels
c. Functionality and Efficiency: Evaluate the effectiveness of the space in fulfilling its purpose. Assess the flow of activities, ease of navigation, and the availability of necessary resources.
d. Safety and Accessibility: Assess the safety features and accessibility provisions in the space. Observe any potential hazards, barriers, or limitations that could hinder certain individuals from using the space.
ETHICS WARNING: Do not interact/intervene with the research subjects while conducting your observation.
4) Documentation Using the template provided, take detailed field notes during your observations. ETHICS WARNING: Do not include any names or information that would enable identification of individuals. Do not take videos or photographs during your observations.
5) Analysis Review your observations and identify at least 2 recommendations. Consider the following:
a) What aspects of the space could be enhanced to improve the user experience?
b) Are there any design or functional changes that could optimize the flow of activities?
c) How can safety and accessibility be improved?
d) Are there any innovative ideas or concepts that could make the space more engaging or efficient?
