Babysitting my younger siblings and cousins started as a chore for me. Initially, I detested this responsibility as an older sibling, because it often interrupted my leisure time to play games or relax. However, with time, this responsibility fortuitously ignited my passion for children's education. I developed a fascination with the complexity of teaching and its impact on children's development. I am excited to pursue a graduate program in elementary education to deepen my knowledge and skills, enabling me to support the transformation of the child education sector in my home country, Ghana

During my undergraduate studies, I initially did not recognize my passion for working with children. Following my mother's guidance, I pursued a degree in Banking and Finance, intending to join the family's accounting firm for financial stability. However, I soon became disenchanted with the finance field, questioning whether I was pursuing a career for monetary gain or genuine passion.

A turning point came when I enrolled in the Success Genius career coaching program at my church. Through introspective sessions reflecting on my interests and strengths, I discovered my deep love for working directly with children. From babysitting and caring for my younger relatives to assisting neighboring kids with their homework, these experiences brought me unparalleled fulfillment compared to the business field. Now, my dream is to become a passionate and inspiring educator dedicated to teaching and mentoring young learners.

In my sophomore year of college, I devoted most weekends to working with children in my underserved neighborhood, where I initiated a Reading and Numeracy Intervention Program. Using phonemes, blends, and the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) Foundations resources, I taught young learners to read and witnessed remarkable improvements in their skills. To gain official work experience in a school setting, I secured a competitive internship position at the British International School in Ghana as a Year 1 Teaching Support. This opportunity exposed me to children from diverse backgrounds and learning abilities, prompting me to develop a multi-faceted pedagogy using various techniques, such as visuals and interactive learning, to ensure comprehensive understanding.

For my mandatory service in Ghana under the National Service Scheme, I opted to work as a co-teacher for 3rd grade at the American International School in Ghana. Under the guidance of a teacher with Primary Year Program certification, I honed my skills in inquiry-based teaching, fostering a love for learning in students and nurturing them as lifelong learners. This experience solidified my commitment to making a positive impact on young learners' education.
