Determine what is being required in the following problems showing complete analysis (provided with
diagrams and/ figures).
PRPOBLEM
The supported edges of Panels 1 and 2 in the floor system shown may be considered fixed inasmuch as
these are monolithic with their supporting beams. At all supports, top bars, 12 mm diameter bars spaced
at 125 mm o.c are places perpendicular to the beams. The bottom of the slabs has been provided with 12
mm diameter bars spaced at 200 in the short directipn while 250 mm o.c in the long direction. The slabs
are 140 mm thick.
Assume that the centroid of short direction bars is 30 from the face of concrete under tension while those
in the long direction, 42 mm . Use fc'=28MPa and fy=276MPa.
Locate the critical yield line pattern (failure mechanism) for Panel 1
Determine the magnitude of the largest uniform load Wu (in Kpa ) that panel 1 can safely sustain.
Locate the critical yield line pattern (failure mechanism) for Panel 2
Determine the magnitude of the largest uniform load Wu (in Kpa ) that panel 2 can safely sustain.
