For this assignment, write a research essay in which youmake a strong claim about an issue related to our class discourse:the intersection between social groupthink and media consumption. In other words, tell us about the specific connection you've uncovered between the way media functions and the thoughts/actions of people.This research essay is an opportunity for you tocontribute to the academic and/or public conversations that surround your topic within our broader field of inquiry. You should focus on a specific issue and position yourself within a specific side, either a claim that we have examined this semester or one that you have discovered in your research. Your claim and focus should be directly correlated to yourWriting Project 2 research question. Your points of articulation should try to answer this question and they should be tailored to a specific audience, accounting for their previous knowledge, biases, and expectations.

The research essay should be organized with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.

• The introduction should introduce the reader to the conversation that you are entering and explain the stakes of your project. It should also provide situational context for how/why this issue came to be (this is typically done in the form of a historical or contemporary anecdote that showcases that this is an ongoing issue). The introduction should also explain the manner in which these topics have impacted the lived-realities of people. Last but certainly not least, your introduction MUST articulate a strong thesis statement. The thesis statement will guide the content across your entire essay, therefore it is crucial that it is clear and precise. Your thesis statement will have to explicitly make a claim that showcases the intersectional nature between the topics you are proposing.
• The body of your essay should critically analyze and connect the sources that you have identified in your research. You should make explicit connections between your sources and position your own claim(s) in relation to them. The body of a research essay often begins with a brief overview of the exigence (need) for such research and then moves to the analysis of specific evidence.Here, you are free to include evidence points and main ideas from Writing Project 3 -- however, verbatim copy/pasting is discouraged(note that although WP 3 is your own intellectual work, copying and pasting onto WP 4 would actually be considered plagiarism).
• Finally, the conclusion should weave together the threads of your main claim and findings, and it should acknowledge the limitations of your project, and suggest avenues for further research. You should use this as an opportunity to reflect on your main findings and include anything that you have not had a chance to communicate previously.

Your research essay should be 10-pages long (NOT including your works cited page) and you must use standard MLA-style to cite your sources and format your document: typed, double-spaced, one-inch margins, 12-point Times New Roman font, etc. You should also include an MLA-styleWorks Cited pagethat lists all of the sources cited in your essay.You are required to utilize at least 8 sources in this essay (four of which must be scholarly). Sources should be a combination of previously reviewed material for WP's 2-3 AND new sources that you have uncovered over the past few weeks. There is a maximum of 10 sources allowed for this WP.

If we overlook this, it could result in a generation that lacks critical thinking skills and struggles to appreciate diversity.Think about how much social media has become a part of our daily lives. It is no longer just a tool for communication; it is a whole world where children spend a significant amount of their time. However, this constant exposure to similar ideas and opinions can create a phenomenon known as groupthink, in which everyone starts thinking and acting alike to fit in. Social media play a significant role in shaping children's behavior by promoting conformity and stifling individuality. By examining how these platforms influence children's perceptions and decision making, we can better understand the challenges they face in navigating the digital landscape.
