Instructions: Two Paragraphs/One Topic
For this assignment, you'll write two paragraphs on the same topic. Each paragraph should focus on a different aspect of the prompt you select. For example, if you choose to write about things that irritate you, pick the top two things (potholes and people who won't pick up after their dogs or people who race cars through your neighborhood and neighbors who play loud music) and write one paragraph of approximately 150 words about each for a total of two paragraphs and about 300 words.
Things to remember:
Each topic sentence should address the prompt. Follow the TREES method for help. Present your topic sentence first. It should be the first sentence that appears in your paragraph.
Paragraph coherence, unity, and development are important.
Provide concrete and specific examples.
Prompts: (Select ONE prompt and write two paragraphs of approximately 150 words each). The paragraph should address the assigned rhetorical mode. For example, if I choose the first prompt, I will write two paragraphs that use the narration mode to discuss my two most impressive accomplishments. The first paragraph will address the first accomplishment, and the second paragraph will address the second accomplishment.
- What are your two most impressive accomplishments? (narration)
- What are two fun and effective ways to get exercise? (description)
- What are two things about yourself that most people don't know about? (description or narration)
- What are two causes of bullying? (cause/effect)
- What are the two most irritating things you encounter regularly? (exemplification or narration)
- Create your paragraph using Microsoft Word.
- Use MLA format. (see module1)
