Insurance 207
Final Assignment- Policy Booklet Assignment
30% of Final Grade
The purpose of this assignment is to familiarize students with the various sections of habitational insurance policies in a Saskatchewan context.
Policy Coverage Guidelines:
Students will work together in groups of 3.
Each group can choose to present a Condo Policy or a Homeowners Package Policy that they have customized to attract a specific demographic.
Both policies presume that the policyholder will be residing in the premises to be insured for at least 75% of the time.
Create a name and brand for your company for the presentation.
Groups will choose to write their custom policy coverages for one of the following demographics:
1. Homeowner who runs a small business out of their home Home Baked Business
Your policy must include:
4 unique features that address the unique property coverage needs of your chosen demographic.
Identification of the usual habitational insurance coverage, additional property covered, any coverage restrictions, warranties, unique perils, and exclusions particular to your policy features.
I have included some examples of policy booklets to be used as a guide to help format your policy booklet and establish wordings.
Presentation Guidelines:
Scenario: You are the Product Development Team for SP Insurance Agencies. You are about to present your innovative new package policy to a group of insurance professionals (brokerage managers, risk managers etc.) to try and sell them your product to sell at their brokerages.
You must prepare a 10 to 12-minute presentation of your completed project where you will describe the specific details of your package policy (Dragon Den / Shark Tank style). There will be a Question-and-Answer period after your presentation.
Make sure to include within the presentation:
Highlights of the custom features of your policy.
Include reasonable evidence of product pricing and deductibles.
A sales pitch that demonstrates your companys brand and demographic focus.
This project is worth 30% of your final grade in this course.
You will be assessed on including all required elements of a property insurance policy, (except for liability insurance, which is not included in the scope of this course). Review the rubric attached.
