Supervise production
For this task you are required to supervise a production area for one week. Your supervisor together with the facilitator will assign a production area to you. They will give you the master production plan so that you know how much to produce in the week you have been allocated. This will ensure that you do not over or under produce in this specific area. You will be given the BOM of the product that you need to produce.
Tasks:
You will be required to do the following
Source and plan all the resources for your production plan this will include manning levels and materials.
Take into account any planned downtime.
Formulate a production plan
Schedule the production plan
Control production
Monitor production
Report on production
After this you will be required to:
Present all your production reports.
Undergo questioning by a panel about the decisions that you have taken in this week.
Information required
The following information must be included in your resource planning
Critical path analysis of the product.
Routing to machines or work centres.
Manning levels for all the processes in the production line.
A list of all the materials needed to produce your product. This will include exact quantities that you will need for a weeks production. Use the BOM that has been provided to you and your planned production levels for the week to assist you in this calculation.
Current stock on hand levels for all the items required to produce the product.
Intransit quantities for all the items required to product the product.
Amounts and names of items to be ordered.
Lead times and names of items to be ordered.
Any adjustments to the production plan.
The following information must be included in your production plan:
Name of product
Quantity to be produced
Detailed steps of the processes involved
The timing of each step in the processes
Who is involved in the processes
What equipment will be used in the processes. The machine or workcentre must be identified
Where the processes will take place. The location of the machine or work centre
The raw materials needed for all the processes. This must also include component parts.
The following information must be included for your planned downtime:
Dates and times
How long the maintenance or changeover will take.
What machines will be affected.
The following information must be included in the production reports:
Any nonconformances experienced
Actual quantity produced compared to quantity planned.
