NE/NC: Network Edge/Network Core. Write NE in this column if the layer is implemented at the Network Edge. Write NC in this column if the layer is implemented at the Network Core.

Purpose: Briefly describe the main purpose or function of this layer.

Actions at the Sender:List the actions performed at the sending host/node.

Actions at the Receiver: List the actions performed at the receiving host/node.

Error Checking: List the Error Detection Value commonly used at this layer (you can review the protocol headers for this information). Some layers do not perform Error Checking, or each protocol has its own error checking mechanism. In such cases you can just write N/A in this column.

Common Protocol: List at least one commonly used protocol. For the physical layer, you can just write N/A in this column.
