Part A (identify): First, look at the graph and identify what data the graph contains. Here we are reading the graph for clues: consider the title, the axes, the labels, the kind of graph (is it a line graph, bar graph, scatterplot? more on these later). Basically, look at all the features of the graph other than the data itself.

Part B (interpret): Then, interpret the graph, by noting any trends (or patterns) in the data, and any interesting or significant features.
