Planned Preventative Maintenance $($PPM$)$ of equipment is carried out by either the Medical Engineering Department or by external contractors $($see Process $6$ Control of Work by External Contractors$)$ on either one or $/$ and two levels dependant on equipment.

$$ Level $1.$ Consists of a visual safety inspection and electrical safety test.

$$ Level $2.$ Consists of a visual safety inspection, and functional $/$ calibration tests as appropriate.

The equipment specification will dictate which level$($s$)$ is required.

A scheduled job exists on e$-$Quip for each PPM test. On completion of a PPM test, this job must be updated on e$-$Quip as $$Completed$$ with reference being made to the $$DAY$$S JOB$$ number in the Work done field.

$7.$ For all PPM Level $1$ and Level $2$ tests, the relevant files in the $$PPM Control$$ folder, hard copies or on e$-$Quip must be updated.

If the equipment is found but cannot be tested because it is in use, the engineer should attach the following caution label to the device and update the outstanding PPM job as follows:

$$ Job status changed to: $$PPM $$ Area visited, device in use$$

$$ Work done field updated with the date the location was last visited and the engineers initials
