It is important to understand the client who has committed filicide.One thing I oftenhear here from new MHPsis "why didn't a parent just give their child up instead of killing him/her." The reality is that while that is a rational alternative, we have to realize that people who commit filicide are not thinking in a rational manner. So, to expect an irrational mind to make a rational decision is erroneous on our part. We have to challenge ourselves not to think "why didn't you just..." when providing services to this type of client.
