It is known that the plastic component of the fracture mechanics parameter J can be estimated using Jp = Ap B(W-a) n where W is the specimen width, a, is the initial crack length, Bn is the net thickness between the side grooves, Ap is the plastic area under the load vs. displacement curve and n is a non-dimensional geometry dependent parameter. By considering a power-law relationship between the "Load" and "Plastic Displacement", show that the equation above can be alternatively written as PAP N - J = B(W-a) N+1 where N is the power-law hardening exponent.
